Legal Affairs Division
Legal Affairs provides legal services to the N.C. Department of
Labor. The division also handles all rulemaking activity for the
department.
Within the division is the Employment Mediation Bureau. Created
by the General Assembly in 1941, the bureau has sought to effect
voluntary, amicable and expeditious settlement of disputes between
employers and employees which otherwise might result in strikes,
work slowdowns or lockouts.
