Big
Four Hazards in the Construction Industry:
NOTE: Requestors MUST allow 1/2 day to adequately cover the topics discussed
in this presentation. This comprehensive presentation, which generally lasts
4 to 5 hours, will cover the top four hazards in the construction industry
that represent 80% of all construction fatalities. OSHA trainers will cover
the construction strategic emphasis program in the state of North Carolina,
fall hazards, electrical hazards, caught-in hazards (excavations and trenching)
and struck-by hazards. Hazard identification and abatement are emphasized
during this session.
Bloodborne
Pathogens (29 CFR 1910.1030): This presentation
provides an overview of the standard, including the written exposure control
plan, engineering and work practice controls used to minimize or eliminate
exposure, personal protective equipment use and added requirements from
the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act.
Common
Electrical Hazards:
General Industry (29 CFR 1910.301 Subpart S): This presentation includes the
OSHA standards related to design safety in electrical systems for general
industry, safety-related work practices and maintenance requirements, and
safety requirements for special equipment.
Construction
(29 CFR 1926.400 Subpart K): This presentation covers common construction
electrical hazards, the OSHA standards relating to those hazards, and tools
and techniques used to identify and minimize these hazards.
Control
of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout) (29 CFR 1910.147):

Communication (29 CFR 1910.1200): This presentation

Process: This presentation provides information

establish a hearing conservation program, noise monitoring and hearing protection
requirements.

Required Confined Spaces (29 CFR 1910.146):
This presentation provides an overview of the standard including how to
evaluate confined spaces in the workplace. Additionally, information about
contractor and employee requirements for confined space entry, training,
the entry permit system, air monitoring, declassification and alternate
entry procedures, and rescue personnel are discussed.
